The Big-Five model of personality traits is the most popular model of personality traits among personality psychologists. Take this 300-item personality test to see how you score on the Big Five personality dimensions, as well as 30 more specific personality facets.
If you just want to learn your scores on the Big Five personality dimensions, you can take the shorter, 44-item Big Five Inventory. However, the Big Five Inventory will not give you results for the 30 more specific personality facets.
The IPIP-300 gives the exact same results page as the IPIP-120. However, because it asks more questions, it can estimate your personality traits with far greater precision.
The IPIP-300 is an in-depth personality test that is very similar to the popular NEO-PI-R. The IPIP-300 is widely used by real personality psychologists to assess personality traits.
Extraversion score not equal to the average of its facets?
Your extraversion score actually is an average of its six facets.
When you took the personality test, your response on each item was scored from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). So, for example, your score on extraversion was 2.13. However, that number is not very meaningful, is it? What does a 2.13 in extraversion mean?
So, to help you understand your score, we converted it into a percentile—you are in the 1st percentile of extraversion, which means that you scored higher than 1% of other people who have taken this test online.
When scores are converted to percentiles, they can no longer be averaged together. For example, a score of 3 is in the 32nd percentile, and a score of 5 is in the 100th percentile. If you tried to just average these percentiles together, you might think that their average is the 66th percentile.
However, looking at the raw scores—3 and 5—the average is 4. A score of 4 is actually in the 94th percentile. As you can see, you cannot just average percentiles together!
